Effects of PPC Rating On Insurance Premiums

Insurance companies rely upon the Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating to assist in their determining fair premiums for fire insurance. This is due to the simple fact that investment in fire mitigation by a community has proved to be a reliable forecaster of future losses due to fire. As a result, communities that have better fire protection, thus a lower PPC rating, generally are offered lower premiums by the insurers.
